Once you are physically (i.e. at least 3 months of prenatal vitamins intake) and mentally ready, it's time to start trying for a baby.
It's always better to record your mensural start date for every month to be able to find out when you ovulate and increase the chances of conceiving. I always recorded my dates since years to keep track of my menstruation and no other reason. I too downloaded 2 different android apps to keep track of my cycles: "Period Calendar / Tracker" and "My Days".

Although they are pretty good apps specially "Period Calendar", they calculate different dates for ovulation for the same cycle and expected period start date.
Webmd's ovulation calculator is also pretty good because it doesn't ask you to enter you cycle days or luteal phase days (which most of us don't know). It simply asks you to enter last three period start dates and gives the result.
Do keep in mind that all this apps give you an approximate ovulation date and none of them are 100% accurate. To know exactly when you ovulate, use ovulation prediction kit, they look similar to pregnancy test i.e. you pee on a stick and it shows whether you are ovulating or not. On average a woman ovulates half way her cycle e.g. if your cycle is 30 days, you might ovulate 15 days after the 1st day of your period.
Usually a women is fertile for 4-5 days, starting 3 days before ovulation, ovulation day and day after ovulation as egg lives for approx. 24 hours and sperms can live up to 72 hours.
Scheduled sex can be stressful. Rather than waiting for "The ovulation day", having sex 3 times a week should be able to take care of fertile window.
All The Best!
